There is nothing, and I mean nothing, more important in your business and your life than feeling good.

Not the numbers.

Not the to-do list.

Not the goals you set on January 1st.

Because if you don’t feel good inside the business you’re building . . . what are we even doing?

Recently, I had a moment of crystal-clear clarity about this, and I want to share it with you because it changed the way I think about my own work.

The Two Extremes: Writing a Book vs. Teaching in the Room

As you may know, I’ve spent the better part of this last year writing and publishing my book. In truth, it’s been a three-and-a-half-year odyssey of refining my methodology, connecting the dots, and making sure the entire Align & Prosper framework was cohesive, meaningful, and transformational.

And let me tell you…

there were days I wondered if I had ruined my business by taking on such a massive project.

My saboteur had thoughts . . . (and feelings!)

My nervous system was on high alert.

My comfort zone was screaming at me to go back to what felt easy.

Was anyone going to read it?

Would it land?

Was it a colossal waste of time?

Spoiler: it was not.

I’m proud of this book.

I’m proud that people are telling me it’s helping them.

And I’m proud of myself for finishing something that most people never do.

But here’s the truth:

Writing a book is not my zone of genius.

Yes, I’m a good writer.

Yes, I’m officially a published author.

But I am also a very slow writer. Painfully slow.

I walk fast, talk fast . . . and write at the speed of a sleepy turtle.

And that’s okay.

Because the contrast between writing my book and what happened last week was exhilarating.

The Moment That Snapped Everything into Place

Last Friday, I hosted my Master Plan business planning retreat.

It was a full room.

A powerful room.

A room full of realtors committed to building aligned and prosperous businesses.

And the second I started teaching, really teaching, I felt the energy in every cell of my body turn back on.

I felt alive.

Lit up.

Clear.

Creative.

In my purpose.

In my power.

I felt like me.

And the contrast was so sharp, I couldn’t ignore it:

💡 My zone of genius is teaching, coaching, facilitating, and helping people see what’s possible for them.

It’s helping them uncover their blind spots.

It’s helping them connect their stories, habits, thoughts, and patterns.

It’s helping them get out of their own way and into alignment so they can get real and lasting results.

That is where I shine.

That is where I feel good.

That is where I make my biggest impact and contribution.

And Friday reminded me why it matters so much to stay connected to our zone of genius.

Why Your Zone of Genius Matters So Much More Than You Think

In chapter 3 of my book, I talk about the power of living and leading from your zone of genius.

Because when you’re in it…

  • You feel energized, not depleted.
  • You create your best work.
  • You access your purpose with clarity and ease.
  • You stop hustling and start expanding.
  • You make a bigger impact without burning out.

And perhaps most importantly…

You feel good.

And your alignment matters because when you feel good, everyone around you benefits:

Your clients.

Your family.

Your creativity.

Your leadership.

Your bank account.

Everything.

Sometimes Stepping Out of Your Zone of Genius is Necessary – But Don’t Stay There

Writing my book required stepping way outside my comfort zone.

It required wrestling with resistance.

It required calling in a team of support, book coach, business coach, partner, bestie, board of directors, because doing it alone would have broken me.

And even though it stretched me . . .

even though it drained me . . .

even though it made me question myself . . .

It was worth it.

Because now the book is here.

Now the work is out in the world.

And now . . . I get to step back into my zone of genius with a bigger platform and a deeper sense of purpose.

So Let Me Ask You this . . .

Are you living and working in your zone of genius?

Or are you spending your days in tasks that drain you, diminish you, or disconnect you from your highest expression of yourself and your purpose?

Ask yourself:

  • What makes me feel good?
  • What work feels energizing instead of depleting?
  • What could I do all day and never get bored?
  • Where do I make my highest, most meaningful impact?
  • What work feels like purpose, not effort?

Because building an aligned and prosperous business is not about doing everything.

It’s about doing the right things.

The things that feel like home.

The things that bring out the best in you.

The things that create the greatest return on your time, energy, and emotional wellbeing.

Everything else?

It’s either a system, a skill, or a delegated task.

If You Want Help Getting Into Your Zone of Genius

This is exactly the work I do with my clients.

I help realtors identify their zone of genius, step into it, build a business around it, and let go of the things that drain their energy and block their prosperity.

Because when you spend more time in your zone of genius…

you don’t just make more money.

You feel more alive.

And that, to me, is the whole point.
