Reminder: Multi-tasking is a myth.
No matter how good you think you are at multitasking, the science tells a different story.
Our brains cannot do multiple tasks simultaneously.
When you think you’re multitasking, what you’re really doing is rapidly switching between tasks, and with every switch, you cause mental fatigue and lose focus. And that mental fatigue is what leads to the feeling of being overwhelmed.
In contrast, single tasking – focusing your attention on one task at a time proves far more effective. This approach not only enhances productivity, reduces errors and makes you more efficient, but it also preserves your mental well being while you create the context for getting better results in your business. By better results I mean more time freedom and more cash flow.
In a world filled with distractions and a business that requires you to handling so many details, it can be challenging for Realtors to stop being in a constant state of overwhelm. Challenging, but not impossible.
Overwhelm in your Real Estate business is entirely optional.
The two key ingredients for overcoming overwhelm in your business as a service based sales professional are:
Clarity of Purpose – know what are you creating and why and let that drive your daily, weekly, monthly action plans. When you have clarity of purpose, it is so much easier to prioritize where your focus needs to be directed.Mental Fitness – develop resilience and strength of focus through mindset work and mindfulness practices. Like physical fitness, mental fitness requires attention and intention. Since you are the single most important asset in your business, taking care of yourself in body, mind and spirit is essential to being able to have the singularity of focus required to get the results you want in your life and your business.
